My article has been (conditionally) accepted! I have some very minor revisions to make and one or two issues to sort out, and then that annoying parenthetical can--I hope--be deleted. Huzzah!
Thank you thank you! Sisyphus, in the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that I had a revise and resubmit prior to this conditional acceptance, so it's not as though I simply sailed through. NONETHELESS, this was the first journal I'd submitted this article to, and I felt that I was taking a bit of a risk--so I'm very delighted that it has (conditionally) worked out. And just about in time for the job market! If I can get the revisions in and accepted within the next two weeks, I should be golden....
Perfect timing! And the R & R, while irritating, has always helped me in the end. The pub I have that I'm proudest of would not be nearly as good if it weren't for a reviewer who insisted I add a section on background phenomenon X. Not only is the article miles better, but I also learned a lot about phenomenon X, as opposed to the general knowledge I had going into the revision.
Now, send some of that good juju my way, as my own article languishes in purgatory...

Hi, kermit--thanks! Thank you, everyone!
It seems that blogging has its Academy Awards moments. And yes, a conditional acceptance *is* a little bit like an Oscar, isn't it?
Congrats on the R&R! That's really good news.
