Happy Returns

A pleasant thing to come home to = a request for Additional Materials from an institution where you would be very happy to work.

A pleasant thing to check email to = two more dossier requests.

Less pleasant ways to start the week = breaking your coffee pot at 6:30 am. And a ladybug infestation that necessitates the use of Raid, which is currently really stinking up the joint.

We can't have everything.

Myneh! When you land Fabulous Dream Job, you can leave the ladybugs behind.

But no coffee? Now that's a problem.

I actually happened to have a second coffee pot, oddly enough--it was donated to me when I arrived here, and I didn't want it, but I never got around to returning it. I didn't have any filters, however, so I ended up straining the coffee through a paper towel, which wasn't altogether satisfactory.

But: Filters = bought, so I'm all set for tomorrow. Life is sweet.

Noo! Not ladybugs! How could you bear to spray those cheerful little spotted creatures? They're so red!

(PS congrats on the materials requests)

I agree with Sisyphus: how could you kill ladybugs? Think of them as decor!

But congrats. on the additional-materials request!

I have no sympathy for ladybugs, or for any bug that infests my house.

Congratulations!

I liked ladybugs just fine. But coming home every day to a dozen or more crawling around the hall window, all slow and methodical and in all different directions--well, it's a little creepy.

Also at night they tap-tap-tap against the ceiling.

That said, I've only been able to bring myself to do one dose of Raid. And this was after two months of provocation. I'm not a big bug killer.
